I see so many anglers just cast anywhere or guesstimate 'I'm fishing 140 yards mate!' Line counters are so inexpensive in comparison to other items of carp fishing gear but so little used, you are the first person I have heard recommend their use. One area I might dispute is you can't get more accurate than casting just beyond showing fish and feeling the lead down.
