Kingfisher Lake owner Matt enjoys his first carp fishing session of the year. Here’s his update:
It’s been a while!
I like to give my carp a good rest over winter but I hung up my Pike, Zander and Perch rod and decided today was the day to have a little dabble…… and what a start!
Had two rods in and had a double run, so had to ask Mrs E to assist with one rod, my first fish fell to double 18mm “Summer Ice”, with a PVA mesh with 8 or 9 freebies. Big Mirror that weighed in at 41lb 8oz.
The second fish landed by Mrs E was a lovely Common that weighed 28lb 2oz.
Spent 10 minutes on my computer checking the 41lb mirror and confirmed that it was NOT “Stealth“, who was the current lake record at 43lb.
This was shortly followed by my second 40+, this one tipping the scales at 42lb 8oz. Second fish to be tempted by double 18mm Summer Ice…… positive results with Baitology baits. Again, it wasn’t Stealth.
And finally Stealth makes her first appearance of the year, it’s been approx 5 months since I last saw her, she’s currently 42lb 7oz, so a pound down on last year but she’ll have that back on soon enough….. the big mirrors are obviously on the feed.
My aim was to have a number of big fish all close enough to keep the lake record changing. There are other 40+ specimens in there including a Grass Carp that went in at 41lb 8oz!
Blown away by today, everything was perfect.
